Paintwatercolours ‘foundation’ day.
Painting with watercolours is both exciting and absorbing, with the element of surprise as to the effects that happen with some of the watercolours techniques. That’s probably why many people choose to paint with watercolours rather than oils or acrylics.
If you’ve never painted before, or the last time was at school years ago and have forgotten most of what you were taught! you are in the same position as the vast majority of people who come and learn to paint with me.
‘I can’t paint’ really means ‘ I’ve never been shown how to paint. If you want to learn how to paint watercolours then spending a day painting with me and you will be surprised at your abilities.
The ‘foundation’ day starts with drawing the still life onto the paper, I'll show you simple ways to do this. With the drawing complete we begin with washes and blending and allowing the colours bleed together.
We stop for a buffet lunch halfway through the day, an informal time for discussion and chat, eaten either in the garden in the better weather or in the dining room.
The afternoon continues with the painting, using various techniques to create your still life, absorbed in the painting you'll soon find its around 4pm and you will have finished your painting. Looking back on the day you will have used the basic watercolour techniques, washes, glazing, wet in wet, dropping in colour, dry brush, reserving white paper, creating hard and soft edges, lifting out colour and a bit of composition. You'll leave with your finished painting.
An all inclusive day for one person £65
Prices include all painting materials, the buffet lunch, teas and coffees.

"Thankyou for your patience with both myself and Roger, we had a great time and both of us thoroughly enjoyed your guidance on our first painting experience. I am ready to get more information locally to gain more experience and hopefully manage to make a few more masterpieces. Thank your wife for the excellent lunch and her company. Hopefully we will be able to visit you again later on in the year. Once again thanks for a wonderful day."

"As an architect, I can produce finished slick images in the computer, but would love to be able to paint images, delicately coloured and individual, so this was top of my present list. At the end of a day I'd not only produced a finished painting but more importantly knew it was possible to achieve more. Back soon to take the next step. Food was brilliant too, but will try and eat less next time".
